The following theories have been put forth by historians as possible reasons for the decline of the Harappan civilisation:

  2. Invasions by foreign tribes, like the Aryans, might have been the reason behind the collapse of the Harappan Civilisation.
  3. A natural change in the course of the river Indus might have made the land infertile, hence causing a collapse of the Harappan economy and society.
