Expert Answer
- The general pattern of distribution of temperature depends upon the insolation that a place receives. The Equatorial and tropical regions are hot as these regions receive the vertical and direct rays of the Sun. Similarly, the regions in the Frigid Zone are cold as they experience the slanting rays of the Sun.
- The distribution of temperature on the world map can be shown on a map by drawing isotherms. Isotherms are imaginary lines that are drawn to join places which have the same temperatures reduced to sea levels. Isothermal maps are drawn to study general trends in the distribution of temperatures.
