Mahabaleshwar receives more rain than Pune. Give reason.

The places located at windward side of a mountain receive more rainfall than the places lying on the leeward side. Mahabaleshwar lies on the windward side of the Western Ghats while Pune lies on the leeward side. Therefore, Mahabaleshwar receives more rain than Pune.
