Expert Answer
After the death of Alexander, his generals fought for control over his enormous empire. Seleucus, one of his generals, became the ruler of the territories stretching from Asia Minor to the Indus. In 305 BCE, he crossed the Indus and sought to recover the territories conquered by Alexander earlier. However, Chandragupta Maurya defeated his forces and freed the north-western part of India from Greek control.
