Find the vaue of k, if x-1 is a factor of p(x) in each of the following cases Q1. P(x) =x square+x+k

Expert Answer
p(x) = x2 + x + k = 0 {since p(x - 1) is a factor}
Therefore p(1) = 1 × 1 + 1 + k = 0
= 1 + 1 + k = 0
= 2 + k = 0
k = 0 - 2
Therfore k = -2
