Explain shelter belt and strip cropping.
Shelter belt: Trees are planted in a straight line to prevent soil erosion. These shelter belts stabilise dunes and prevent soil from wind erosion.
Strip cropping: To prevent the loss of soil due to the action of winds, large fields are divided into strips. Grass is then allowed to grow in between the strips. This is called strip cropping. This method breaks the force of the wind.
