Following are the main features of the Middle Stone Age or the Neolithic Age:

Advanced Stone Tools: The stone tools developed and used during this epoch were more advanced than those used during the Old Stone Age. These tools are known as microliths. They were smaller, sharper and more efficient than their predecessors. Apart from stone, bones and horns were also used for making scrapers, hooks, borers, hammers and arrowheads.

Occupation: Humans were primarily hunters and gatherers during this period. Later on, towards the end of the Neolithic Age, they learnt how to cultivate crops and cultivate land.
