Expert Answer
In the Egyptian civilisation, the family was a close knit group. It was a patriarchal society, but women too had property rights. There was relative equality for both genders in the eyes of the law. However, while male children were sent to school, girls stayed at home and learnt housework. Affluent families led luxurious lives. Recreational activities included hunting, fishing, swimming and sailing on the Nile.
