Hi,

Please go through the exercise questions given in your texbook, Live test series, model tests, and chapter tests to make the concepts more understandable. Please go through the Past Year Papers thoroughly.  However you can go through the tips and some important topics for the examination given below.

  • Formulae, structures, IUPAC nomenclature, chemical reactions, laws and postulates are the backbone of chemistry. Practice them regularly.
  • Memorise the elements of the modern periodic table along with their atomic numbers. Be thorough with the first 20 elements.
  • Create mind maps along with flash cards for easy remembering of the elements and the trends of the modern periodic table.
  • Practice reactions everyday. Write down equations as many times as you can!
  • Always write balanced chemical equation in your examination. Write its physical state and name of the reactants and products in the reactions. Remember to write the upward arrow (↑) for gaseous reactant/product and downward arrow (↓) for precipitate.
  • The Acid Base Chemistry contains more conceptual questions. A student must understand and should be able to apply his knowledge to answer the questions on the effect of pH in daily life processes.
  • Preparation: laboratory preparation of salts (normal and acid salts) – relevant laboratory work is essential (no apparatus details are required). Laboratory preparation of salts (normal and acid salts): Direct combination; decomposition; displacement; double decomposition; neutralization.
  • Create flow charts for easy remembering of the types of reactions, extraction process of metals from their ores and the equations of salt preparation and their uses.
  • Understand and learn the IUPAC and common names of chemical compounds, and their chemical formulae thoroughly.
  • Learn Structures, Characteristic properties of electrovalent and covalent compounds thoroughly.
  • Organic Chemistry: Entire chapter is important. Understand and practice this chapter thoroughly.
