If current is a scalar quantity, what is the meaning of the sentence,'Current flows from a medium of high electrons to a medium of low electrons'? {note: scalar's don't have a direction}

force due to positive charge is along the direction of the electric field but, force due to negative charge is opposite to the electric field's direction. Why?

The potential difference between two points is equal to the work done in moving unit positive charge from one point to the other. In the definition of potential difference above( as stated in my book) why they have considered positive charge ,why not negative charge?
