- Body coverings help animals survive in many different ways. There are many different body coverings such as scales, fur, skin, blubber, feathers and shells. Fur and blubber helps animals to stay warm and skin helps them camouflage. For example polar bears have blubber to help them stay warm.
- Animals need to adapt themselves in different ways to protect themselves from their enemies. Some animals have developed ways to merge with their surroundings then it becomes difficult to see the animal. This is known as camouflage. For example, a stick insect looks almost like a twig. Chameleons can change the color of their skin to match their surroundings.
