ICSE Class 9 Answered

Why is hypothalamus compared to a thermostat?
Asked by Topperlearning User | 04 Jun, 2014, 01:23: PM
answered-by-expert Expert Answer
The principal heat-regulating centre of our body is located in the hypothalamus. It acts like a thermostat. When the body tends to cool below the normal temperature, it switches or speeds up the heat-producing process and when the body tends to get overheated, it accelerates the cooling process and switches off the heat-producing process.
