Inland drainage is that drainage in which rivers do not reach an ocean or sea but empty their waters in a lake or an inland sea. The Lake Eyre is a shallow salt water lake in central Low lands in Australia. A number of rivers disappear here without reaching the sea. Thus, central lowlands are called an area of inland drainage.
