Expert Answer
The regions in India which are highly prone to earthquakes are the state of Kashmir, the foothills of the Himalayas, the North eastern region and the Rann of Kutch. Earthquakes frequently take place in the foothills of the Himalayas and the Ganga Brahmaputra valley as these are regions where the tectonic plates meet. The state of Maharashtra is also prone to earthquakes.
