The Mesopotamian society was primarily divided into three socio-economic classes. They were as follows:

The Upper Class: The upper class of the Mesopotamian society consisted of the royal family, the priestly class and the high officials of the administration.

The Middle Class: The Middle class included the farmers, the artisans and the traders. The majority of this class practised farming as a profession.

The Lower Class: The lower class of the Mesopotamian society consisted of slaves.
