Expert Answer
In the year 1830, there were revolutions in many parts of Europe such as Belgium, Germany, Italy, Poland and Greece. Most of these failed, with the exception of Belgium and Greece which succeeded in wresting their political freedom from the Dutch. Though their success inspired the Polish, Italian and German nationalists, their revolts were mercilessly crushed. The year 1848 saw another spurt of revolutionary activity in Europe. Although all the revolutions which happened in this year were unsuccessful, they were a firm step ahead in the journey to democracy in Europe.
