What is the difference between literate and educated?

Expert Answer
According to the Census of 2001, a literate is 7 year old and above who can read and write with understanding in any language.
Thus to be literate is the ability to read and write while being educated requires extensive theoritical and practical knowledge which generally also requires literacy.
