Expert Answer:

It is the growth observed in bacteria: The initial growth is very slow which is known as lag phase. It is followed by the log phase or exponential phase. During this phase, there is a sudden increase in the growth rate of organisms. During this phase, the concentration of nutrients become very low and the growth slows down and finally ceases. This phase is known as stationary phase. The plotted graph of geometric growth is a sigmoid curve.
