Expert Answer
Hey Tabish,
The pancreas secretes pancreatic juice. It has digestive enzymes trypsin, enterokinase, steapsin and pancreatic amylase, which partly digest proteins, fats and carbohydrates.
Enterokinase catalyses the conversion of inactive trypsinogen to its active form trypsin.
Trypsin converts proteins and peptides into smaller peptides and amino acids.
Amylase converts leftover starch into maltose.
Steapsin catalyses the conversion of emulsified fats into fatty acids and glycerol.
Pancreatic juice has a large amount of sodium bicarbonate, which neutralises the acid present in chyme and makes it alkaline.
Good luck!
