The Vijaynagar Empire (1347-1527) was formed by army generals who had earlier served in the Hoysala empire. One of these army generals, Bukka I, had gotten really adept at warding off Islamic skirmishes. It was under his tutelage that the Hindu provinces of south India agreed to the suzerainty of the Vijaynagar Empire, led by Bukka I and Harihara I, in helping to keep the Islamic powers at bay
The Bahmani Sultanate (1347-1527) was created by the Islamic general Badakhshan after he won a skirmish against the Delhi Sultanate Muhammad bin Tughlaq. Badakhshan continued to control the Delhi Sultanate as a part of his empire, but Badakhshan wanted to set up an Islamic base in the Deccan provinces.
