To find x when 52x-1 - 25x-1 = 2500
5 to the power of 2 x minus 1 end exponent minus 25 to the power of x minus 1 end exponent equals 2500 5 to the power of 2 x minus 1 end exponent minus open parentheses 5 squared close parentheses to the power of x minus 1 end exponent equals 2500 5 to the power of 2 x minus 1 end exponent minus 5 to the power of 2 x minus 2 end exponent equals 2500 5 to the power of 2 x minus 1 end exponent open parentheses 1 minus 5 to the power of negative 1 end exponent close parentheses equals 25 cross times 100 5 to the power of 2 x minus 1 end exponent open parentheses 1 minus 1 fifth close parentheses equals 25 cross times 25 cross times 4 5 to the power of 2 x minus 1 end exponent cross times 4 over 5 equals 5 to the power of 4 cross times 4 5 to the power of 2 x minus 2 end exponent equals 5 to the power of 4 2 x minus 2 equals 4 2 x equals 6 x equals 3
