  1. Western disturbances in north India bring light showers during the winter season which help in the growing of the wheat crop. Thus, western disturbances are beneficial for the wheat crop.
  2. Punjab has rich alluvial soil because the River Indus with its five tributaries, namely the Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas and Sutlej flow through the state. These rivers have deposited alluvial soil in the plains of Punjab.
