Give geographical reasons for the following: a. Equatorial forests are also called evergreen forests. b. It is difficult to exploit the equatorial forests. c. The trees which grow in the Savanna regions are flat at the top.

  1. The trees of the equatorial forests do not shed their leaves at the same time. Hence these forests always appear green and are thus known as evergreen forests.
  2. It is difficult to exploit the equatorial forests as the wood of the trees in these forests is hard and cannot be easily cut or floated down the rivers. Furthermore these forests are dark and dense with thick undergrowth of plants which makes it difficult to cut the trees.
  3. The trees which grow in the Savanna regions are flat at the top so that they are able to withstand the strong force of the Trade Winds which blow in this region.
