The following are the three main components of the change of population:
Birth rate: It is calculated on the basis of the number of births in a year per thousand persons. It is considered to be an important element of the population change in India as the birth rate in India has always been higher and consequently has contributed to an increase in population.
Death rate: The death rate refers to the number of deaths in a year per thousand persons. A decline in the death rate has resulted in a high population growth of the country.
Migration: It refers to the movement of people across territories and boundaries. It may result in either increase or decrease in the population of a place.
