By the end of the 18th century, many paradigm shifts had taken place in the United States of America. These changes were largely propelled on the back of the explosion of industrial growth and development in the northern American states. The cities and towns in the North developed as manufacturing and shipping centres. On the other hand, the economy of the southern American states was largely agrarian and heavily dependant on the production emanating out of the cotton plantations.
