Newton's first law: An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted upon by an external and unbalanced force. An object in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon by an external and unbalanced force. The first law gives the qualitative explanation of force.
The second law of motion states that: The second law states that the rate of change of momentum of a body is directly proportional to the force applied, and this change in momentum takes place in the direction of the applied force.
F=ma. This law explains the force quantitatively.
