a) Calorie: One calorie is the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of 1 g of water by 1 °C.
b) Specific heat capacity: The quantity of heat required to raise the temperature of unit mass of a substance by 1 °C is called its specific heat capacity.
c) Thermal capacity: The quantity of heat required to raise the temperature of unit mass of a body through 1 °C is called heat capacity or thermal capacity of the body.
