Expert Answer:

1.What are the character traits of the driver Luigi?
A. The driver Luigi is cautious by nature. He disapproves of the two boys when they come forward to sell strawberries as they are dressed in rags. He is unhappy of their shabby appearance and thinks that the boys cannot be trusted.

2.Describe the 2 boys(appearance and character sketch)?
A. The two boys are dressed in rags when the narrator sees them for the first time. The two are brothers and belong to Verona, Italy. The war has taken away their father and their house and left their sister bedridden with illness. However, the war has not been able to wither their spirit and willingness to rise above their circumstances. The boys do several odd jobs in order to earn money so that their sister can be treated. They were resourceful and wanted to do a good job for every task that they took in their hands.

3.how was the 2boys helpful for the narrator?
A. The two boys helped the narrator by arranging seats for the Opera. They also got a pack of American cigarettes for the narrator and toured him around Juliet's Tomb. The boys also suggested names of good restaurants to the narrator. In short, the two boys proved to be quite resourceful to the narrator.

4.Why did the 2boys hate germans?
A. The boys showed resistance towards the Germans because their house had been bombed by the Germans. Their parents had been killed in the war. They had not only been orphaned, but their sister had also taken ill because of the starvation and extreme situations during the war.

5.Describe the their sister? What happened to her?
A. Lucia was the 20-year-old sister of Nicola and Jacopo. She was suffering from spinal tuberculosis and was being treated at a hospital. The boys used to do odd jobs to earn enough money to pay for the hospital expenses.

6.Describe the statement given below:
"Their selfless action bought a new nobility to human life, gave promise of a greater hope for human society".
A. The line refers to the selfless actions of the two boys, the gentlemen of Verona, who have been working hard to take care of their ailing sister. The war may have broken their family but has not succeeded in breaking their spirit. They have a constant zest for life and this is evident in the smallest of the jobs they do to earn a living. The two boys are an example of how optimism and a zeal for life can be infectious enough for the whole world to follow and take lead.
