Amanda was a little girl between the age group of 10-12 years. She was constantly nagged by her mother telling her things to do. She was constantly given directions about her behaviour and hence she thought she has not freedom. 
Whenever we are put under a lot of restrictions, we are not able to act according to our own will and the same happened with Amanda. Hence, all these constraints were a reason of her thinking.
Considering her thoughts and dreams, it is clear that she wanted to live free. Her imagination is not given sufficient space, and therefore it is making her annoyed. This annoyance is making her disagree with the restrictions even more.
