ICSE Class 9 Answered
A car starting from rest acquires a velocity of 36 km/h in 5 s. Calculate: (1) its accleration (2) distance covered by it ?

acceleration = (v-u) / t ;
v = final speed = 36 km/h = 36×(5/18) = 10 m/s; u is initial spped , u = 0; t is time and t = 5 s;
acceleration = 10/5 = 2 m/s2
distance S = u×t + (1/2)×a×t2 = (1/2)×2×5×5 = 25 m
