The line joining the points (11, -7) and (2, 11) is trisected at the points P and Q such that P is nearer to A. If point P also lies on the line 8x – 5y + k = 0, find the value of k.

AP = PQ = QB
AP : PB = 1:2
Now, use section formula to find the coordinates of P.
 
Thereafter, put the value of x and y in the given equation of the line to get the value of k.
(Since P lines on the given line)
