the diagonal of a square A is (a+b) . Find the diagonal of square B whose area is twice the area of A.

Let x be the side of square a.
Diagonal = (root 2)x
Therefore, a + b = (root 2)x
This gives x = (a + b) / (root 2)
 
Hence, Area of square A = x= (a + b)2 / 2
 
Given, Area of square B = 2 Area of square A 
So, Area of square B = (a + b)2 
Hence, side of square B = a + b
Now, you can easily find the diagonal of the square B.
