We observe that the field magnitude
1. varies as the inverse cube of the distance of the field point along one line.
2. has a magnitude half of its magnitude (at an equidistant point) on the line perperdicular to this line.
These properties tell us that the given charge distribution is a (small) electric dipole centered at the reference point O.
