It is said that larger the size of anion,the covalent character in the ionic bond increases.THEN what IF THE size of anion smaller?PLZZ ELABORATE

Larger the size of anion, more is the covalent character in the ionic bond because a large size anion can be polarised to a greater extent by the cation. so covalent character of the ionic bond increases.
But if the size of anion is smaller, its polarisation decreases and covalent character also decreases.
