Alcohols are weakly acidic and basic. They are weakly acidic because they cannot release hydrogen of alcoholic group (OH) as it is hydrogen bonded. Hence it is weakly acidic.
It is slightly basic not because of presence of OH group but due to lone pair of electrons on the oxygen.
You will be studying more about this concept of lone pair and hydrogen bonding in your higher grades. For the time it is sufficient to know that alcohols are weakly acidic and basic.
