which of the following is not true about ionic solid

a. bigger ions forms closed pack structure

b. smaller ions occupy either tetrahedral or octahedral voids depending upon their size

c. occupation of all void is not neccesary

Answer:
Option (d) is correct.

The fraction of octahedral or tetrahedral voids occupied depends upon the radii of the ions present at the lattice points.
The radius of octahedral void = 0.414 r.
The radius of tetrahedral void = 0.025 r.
Where r = radius of bigger atoms involved.
