Answer:

Phosphorous is estimated as magnesium pyrophosphate, Mg2P2O7.

A known mass of an organic compound is heated with fuming nitric acid which oxidizes phosphorous to H3PO4.

It is on heating with magnesium mixture followed by ignition gives Mg2P2O7.
