All bases, according to the Arrhenius concept of bases dissociatice to give OH- ions in water, but what happens in the case of Sodium Carbonate or Sodium Bicarbonate? How do they dissociate in water ? Is it an exception to the the theory, or is it having a complicated equation ? If the case is the latter one, please give me the equation.

during the reaction of some metals with dilute HCl, following observation were made:
- silver metal does not show any change
- reaction of sodium metal is found to be highly explosive
- some bubbles of a gas are seen when lead is reacted with acid; so, explain these observations giving suitable reasons.
