AS per thermodynamics law, ΔQ = ΔU+ΔW ....................(1)
where ΔQ heat energy absorbed/released, ΔU is change in internal energy and ΔW is workdone
 
Restoring force acts so quickly, there will be negligible heat loss. Hence we approximate this process as adiabatic and ΔQ = 0;
 
hence we have , ΔU+ΔW = 0, since ΔW= -10 J, we have ΔU = 10 J
