b) CHO-CH2-COOH
Here aldehyde is substituent group so will we count its C-atom or not in the parent chain?

Answer:
We have to treat aldehyde as substituent and with carboxylic acid as parent chain due to higher priority to carboxylic group while naming organic compound according to IUPAC nomenclature.

Kindly check first compound, it should be CHO-CH2-CH(CH3)-CH2COOH or CHO-CH2-CH(CH3)-COOH. Given name for first.
