there are two balls a and b at same level.a is thrown up with velocity 20 m/s.ball b s thrown up with velocity 40m/s.after how much time the balls cross each other?

Using the equation:
 v = u + at
 
We find the time for which each ball travells in upward direction.
Final velocity 'v' for both ball A and B is 0 m/s, because they will ultimately stop at a point.
 
Substituiting the given velocities 20 m/s and 40 m/s in differrent equations where acceleration a remains common at -9.8 m/s2 (negative, as the bodies are moving against the accaelration due to gravity of the Earth)
 
On calculating, we get time for ball A as 2.04 secs and time for ball B as 4.08 seconds.
Thus, ball B will cros ball A after 2.04 seconds.
