Figure describes the question. Let the distance of P from O, i.e. OP is S. Then we have
 
S = 3×tanθ ......(1)
 
differentiate (1), then we have (dS/dt) = 3×sec2θ×(dθ/dt) ............(2)
 
when θ=45º , and by substituting (dθ/dt) = 0.1 rad/s, we get the speed of spot P using eqn.(2) as given below
 
(dS/dt) = 3 × (√2)2 × (0.1) = 0.6 m/s
