The displacement of the edge of the arm AB is dependent on the angular displacement of the arm OA.
the rate at which arm OA rotates (dθ/dt) is proportional to the rate at which arm AB undergoes linear motion with velocity "ds/dt"
Therefore
s=lxcosθ

ds/dt =l x cosθ xdθ/dt
 
is the velocity of the edge of the arm.
