Answer:
we know from first law of thermodynamics,  ΔU = ΔQ - ΔW...........(1)
where ΔU is the internal energy of the system, ΔQ is the heat energy absorbed/released and ΔW is workdone.

Since the moving gas is suddenly stopped, it is adiabatic process, hence ΔQ = 0.

hence ΔU = - ΔW .............(2)

we have ΔU = n×CV ×ΔT , where n is number of moles, CV is specific heat and ΔT is rise in temperature.

hence n×CV ×ΔT = (1/2)mv

Let M0 be moleculer weight and v is speed of gas

(m/M0)×CV ×ΔT = (1/2)mvor  begin mathsize 12px style increment T space equals space fraction numerator M subscript 0 space v squared over denominator 2 space C subscript V end fraction space equals space fraction numerator 0.03 cross times 100 cross times 100 over denominator 2 cross times begin display style 5 over 2 end style R end fraction space equals space 60 over R end stylebegin mathsize 12px style increment T space equals space fraction numerator M subscript 0 space v squared over denominator 2 space C subscript V end fraction space equals space fraction numerator 0.03 cross times 100 cross times 100 over denominator 2 cross times begin display style 5 over 2 end style R end fraction space equals space 60 over R end style
