Figure shows the extreme lightrays undergoing reflection at the mirror surface and forming illumination at the ceiling. It can be seen that ΔAED and ΔGFD are similar triangles.
Hence DF/DE = GF/AE or GF = (DF/DE)×AE = (3.6/2.4)×0.8 = 1.2 m
similarly we can prove HI = 1.2 m
length of illuminated region = HI+IF+FG = 1.2+0.6+1.2 = 3 m
