In the arrangement shown what should be the mass of block A so that the system remains at rest .Also find force exerted by string on the pulley Q.

As shown in figure, In equlibrium state, force balance condition for 2 kg block resting on inclined plane is given by

but we have, T1 = 2×g and T2 = m×g  ................(2)
 
By substituting eqns.(2) in eqn(1) and solving for m, we get m = 3 kg
 
Force exerted by the string on pulley Q is T2 = 3×9.8 = 29.4 N
