if an ac voltage of 110v is connected to a resistor of 40ohm and capacitance of 100microfarad, with frequency 60hz, calculate the max. current and the time lag between current lag and voltage lag.capacitor and resistor are in series. why cant the formula-i=v/Xc be used in this case where Xc is capacitive reactance.

here the total impedance=?(R2+Xc2)
as the condition is that the current sh be maximum, so the I=E/?(R2+Xc2)
here it cant be:i=v/Xc
