The following factors are of utmost importance while cultivating any crop-
- Preparation of the soil
- Clean and healthy seeds
- Appropriate sowing and sprouting of seeds
- Techniques like intercropping or crop rotation or organic farming
- Control of weeds and pests
- Irrigation facilities
- Proper post harvesting
Apart from the above requirements, it is possible to cultivate good crops of coconut, brinjal and lady’s finger by applying some of the below tricks.
- To begin with cultivation of a coconut tree from the seed, it is best to have the outer fibrous husk intact.
- It is best to sow lady's finger seeds in early summer, at least four weeks after the chilling winters have passed by.
- While growing brinjal, planting the eggplant from seed should be done indoors or in a greenhouse environment. This protects the new little seedlings from chilling winters. The soil needs to be warm.
