at P, as shpwn in figure we have two velocity components.
One velocity component is v = ω0R  due to translational motion and other velocity component ω0(R/2) is due to rotational motion.
Angle between the two components is 60°
Resultant veleocity is begin mathsize 12px style square root of omega subscript 0 superscript 2 R squared space plus space fraction numerator omega subscript 0 superscript 2 R squared over denominator 4 end fraction plus 2 cross times fraction numerator begin display style omega subscript 0 superscript 2 R squared end style over denominator begin display style 2 end style end fraction space cross times cos 60 end root space equals space fraction numerator square root of 7 over denominator 2 end fraction omega subscript 0 R space end style
