binding energy per nucleon is almost constant in mid region of graph indicates stability of the nucleus of those elements in that region.
As The binding energy of a nucleus is a very important characteristic for stability, because of the various ways in which a nucleon can change to another or escape altogether. If the binding energy of the initial state is less than the total of the final states, decay (conversion of one system into a different one) is possible.
